An M postcode does not mean Manchester City Council. The area reaches into Salford, Trafford, Stockport, Tameside and Bury, and each is a separate highway authority with its own skip licence, fee and notice period. Neighbouring streets can sit under different councils, which is exactly the sort of thing that turns a Friday delivery into a Monday one when nobody checked. Your postcode decides it, and the fee is on the quote before you commit.

Housing stock across the area splits the job cleanly. The inner terraces of M14, M13 and M16 have no off-street parking to speak of, so a skip goes on the road and needs a licence; the interwar and postwar semis further out mostly have a driveway wide enough for a 6- or 8-yard skip, which needs no permit at all and can usually be delivered sooner. If you have a driveway, say so when you price it — it is normally the difference between a next-day delivery and one that waits on a council.

For city-centre work the constraint is usually access rather than paperwork. Loading bays, tram routes and pedestrianised stretches around the core rule out leaving a container standing, and a grab lorry or a wait-and-load visit clears the job in one visit without one. Both are worth pricing before you assume a skip is the cheaper route.
